Shreveport crash investigators are working to determine the cause of a wreck involving a Shreveport Police unit Wednesday morning.
Police say the officer was on routine patrol, heading westbound on Lakeshore Drive approaching Dilg League Drive, when a 2010 Toyota sedan going northbound on Dilg League struck the patrol unit.
The force of the impact caused the unit to spin out, strike a pole and come to rest against a fire hydrant.
The driver of the Toyota was taken to Willis Knighton North, with non-life-threatening injuries. The officer was not seriously injured. Police say he was taken to a local medical facility for routine post-accident screening.
