Nov. 26th: KSLA News 12 Angel Tree Editorial

This is the time of year we give thanks for the blessings we have and help those in need…especially at Christmas time.

Once again, KSLA News 12 is proud to support the Salvation Army's Angel Tree. Here's how it works.

Go by one of these locations, including the lobby of our T.V. station, and you'll find a Christmas tree. On the tree will be dozens of cards. Each card has a child's name on it, their age and what they would like for Christmas.

All you have to do is pick a card, purchase a gift and then bring the gift to the Salvation Army.

They know thousands of children in our area who will not have a Christmas gift this year if not for your generosity. It's important to note all this has to happen before December 9th.

From all of us at KSLA News 12 and from the kids, thank you for helping out.

I'm James Smith.

Tonight at 11:59 p.m., KSLA's extended agreement with DirecTV will expire and they may drop this station from their lineup. We have been working hard to stay on their system, but they have simply refused to make a fair deal.

As we all witness the devastation of Hurricane Harvey, we are reminded of the responsibility of local broadcasters to serve those in need. And we're pleased DirecTV understood the importance of our local commitment and accepted Raycom Media's extension.
