Black Friday shoppers hit Shreveport stores

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

The Black Friday line outside of Best Buy on Youree Drive in Shreveport started on Wednesday, and when the doors opened a little before midnight the crowds rushed in.

"Waiting in line for 5 hours was worth it," said shopper Sasha Tomic.

Retailers say they expect their best selling items this year to be flat screen TVs and tablet computers. Person after person carried those new TVs out of both Best Buy and Target on the morning of Black Friday, and most seemed very happy with the deals they got.

"We got a flat screen TV for $350," said Sharon Harris.

"I got 2 TVs, a blue ray player, and some cables to go with it," said Denys Pratt.

Some Target employees said the lines didn't seem as long this year. They think its because the store opened its doors on Thanksgiving night, so some shoppers came when they opened while others waited until after the clock struck midnight.

Paula McSwain thinks the stores should wait until Thanksgiving is over to give employees the day to spend with their family.

"I think it kind of takes away from the holidays," she said.

However, that didn't stop her from hitting the stores looking for deals on Thanksgiving herself.

"Went out last night and went to wal-mart. Did some shopping in Center, TX with my mother in law," said McSwain.

Another reason retail experts think Black Friday sales might decrease this year is more and more people plan to shop online for Cyber Monday, but there were still plenty of people who decided standing in the long Black Friday line was worth it.
