Project Sandy donations ready to ship

BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

The truck full of "Project Sandy" donations collected at Airline High School in Bossier City has now been re-packed to ship, and it is ready to go.

Tango transport will pick up the trailer tomorrow, and organizers think the driver will leave sometime this weekend to go to the New York Port Warehouse District in Staten Island. The area is one of the hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy.

"There is a gentleman in that area who owns some of the warehouses, and he has turned that area into a Sandy relief area. So our food and all of our donations are going there, and then it will be dispersed out from there to the families that need it there in Staten Island," said Project Sand organizer, Jimmy Gould.

The trailer is full of 26 pallets of canned food, water bottles, diapers, blankets, batteries, and other supplies. Dozens of volunteers helped, and they estimate300-400 people donated.
