ZWOLLE, LA (KSLA) - "I wanted to make a difference in kids lives, and be able to be that teacher, like teachers I have that I look back on," said Zwolle Jr. High math teacher, Stephanie Ebarb.
She remembers what it's like to sit in a 7th grade math class, and what a huge difference a good teacher can make.
"I'm just going to do whatever it takes for my kids to succeed," said Ebarb.
Ebarb went to Zwolle High School, where she now teaches. The principal there, Chad Crow, says she has always had a great work ethic.
"I actually coached her in high school, years ago, and she has always been an extremely hard worker. She gives 100% no matter what it is she's assigned," said Crow.
Some of those same teachers who inspired her, still work down the hall, and she's proud to follow in their footsteps.
"I love it. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else," said Ebarb.
Ebarb won the weekly Golden Apple Award for teaching excellence. The award comes with a $500 prize from the sponsor, The Kirby Kelly Law Firm.
