Friend of slain carjacking victim reacts to murder

Arrested: Stacey Blount Arrested: Stacey Blount

Elizabeth Spates was shocked when she got the call Saturday morning that her friend of more than 50 years, Rose Coleman, had been killed. The pair had been at Eldorado casino together the night before.

"She said I'll see you later dog. Just like that, and she walked off," said Spates.

Police think 28-year-old Stacy Blount, later car jacked 68-year-old Coleman and killed her in the process. A jogger found Coleman's body in Southwest Shreveport Saturday morning.

"We do know she was a victim of a car jacking, and the details in between that are still not really clear at this point," said Marcus Hines with the Shreveport Police Department.

Blount and Coleman's car ended up in Natchitoches, where police arrested her. Officers there say she is charged with several offenses including 1 count of car jacking, 2 counts of attempted car jacking, 3 counts of wreck less operation of a vehicle, illegal possession of stolen things, aggravated assault, and aggravated flight from an officer. When she gets to Shreveport, investigators will also charge her with 2nd degree murder.

Spates says Coleman was a nurse who always took care of others. While she still hurts, Spates won't hold onto hate.

"If I could look her (Blount) in the face, I probably would embrace her and tell herIi forgive you. I forgive her," said Spates.

There is surveillance video from the Eldorado parking garage. Police have that in their custody now, and say it shows the suspect and Coleman the parking garage at the same time.
