SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
It's time for this week's cafeteria report card. Every week we are grilling an area school cafeteria to make sure the food your kids are served is safe to eat. This week we checked behind the kitchen doors of Caddo Parish elementary school cafeterias. Only one school had no violations.
Caddo Heights School impressed health inspectors; they cooked up a flawless inspection. Creswell Elementary School didn't do as well. They had 1 critical violation and 1 non-critical violation. Their critical violation is: the water temperature in cleaning station was not getting hot enough to properly sanitize items. Their non-critical violation is: surfaces on equipment that does not touch food had collected dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris. Oak Park Elementary School didn't make the cut, they had 3 non-critical violations. Equipment that does not touch food is not in good condition, the garbage cans outside were not kept closed, and there were unnecessary items in the kitchen.
Health inspectors turned up the heat on Sunset Acres Elementary School; they had 3 non-critical violations as well. The hand washing sink and/or soap and paper towel dispensers were not clean, the garbage cans were not kept closed, and there were items in the kitchen that did not need to be there. Blanchard Elementary School dished out 3 non-critical violations. Surfaces that do not touch foods were not made of the approved material, there were unnecessary items in the kitchen, and utility service lines, pipes, exposed studs, joints or rafters were exposed un food preparation and processing areas.
Pine Grove Elementary School had 3 non-critical violations. There were items in the kitchen that didn't need to be there, the floor was not an even level or in good condition, and the walls/ceiling or attached equipment was not in good repair. Arthur Circle School had 1 non-critical violation: frozen food was not maintained frozen. Claiborne Fundamental School had 2 non-critical violations: non-food contact surfaces on equipment were not in good repair and there were unnecessary items on the premises.
Eighty First Street School had 2 non critical violations: there were unnecessary items on the premises and the lightening in walk in refrigerators, dry food storage areas or other rooms was not bright enough.
