MLK neighborhood home heavily damaged by fire

Posted: Updated:

A home in Shreveport's Martin Luther King neighborhood is heavily damaged after a fire broke out Thursday morning.

Firefighters were called to 1951 David Raines Road around 11:40 a.m. and arrived to find flames and heavy smoke coming from the front of the home.

Three family members were home at the time. They say the fire broke out in a back room and spread to the rest of the house. Everyone was able to make it out safely, but one pet dog died in the fire and was found after the fire was extinguished.

Firefighters had it under control by 11:20 a.m.

It's unknown how the fire started. The cause is still under investigation.
