SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport police have made an arrest in a brutal sexual assault that allegedly took place in the 1400 block of Missouri Avenue in Shreveport.

Police were called to a home in the 1400 block of Missouri Street Wednesday morning at 11:41 a.m. for a report of an assault and battery. When they arrived, they spoke with a woman that told them she had been beaten, kidnapped and sexually assaulted at the hands of a man she knows.

She told police she was at the home of the man when the attack occurred. The woman, who after hours of allegedly being bound and raped, somehow managed to free herself and escape by going out a window.

She was taken to a local hospital by the Shreveport Fire Department.

Police say Sex Crimes investigators got a search warrant for the home of 53-year-old Carl Scott and collected evidence. They also spoke with witnesses who reported seeing a woman running from the home, asking for help.

One neighbor tells KSLA News 12 that the woman came knocking on his door looking for help. He says he let her in and she told him her attacker had told her he would kill her if she went to police.

Scott's grandmother lives across the street from him in the 1400 block of Missouri St., and tells KSLA News 12 she saw the woman in the street and offered help.  "The lady was in the street. She didn't have no clothes on. I run back in the house and I got a robe and give it to her to put on," said Ethel Scott.

Before his arrest, she said it wasn't like her grandson to be involved in something like this, and urged him to come forward and tell investigators what happened. "I just believe in doing the right thing. I just want to tell him to come in and turn himself in and tell them whatever happened. Tell them," Scott said.

On Thursday, Scott showed up at Police Headquarters, where he was interviewed by detectives. Police say, based on evidence gathered during the course of the investigation, Scott was arrested and charged with one count each of aggravated rape and second degree kidnapping. He was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
