Polling crews began work early Monday morning.
"Busy, busy, busy," said Jason Underwood, a poll worker. "It's always busy on a presidential election."
Workers like Lois Boston have been at it awhile. Boston worked in the Cape Girardeau County clerk's office for 25 years before retiring and working as an election judge for the past 15 years.
"I started this in 1974 and now it's 2012," Boston said.
With her experience, she is designated as the problem fixer.
"A lot of people move in this town," Boston said. "It's a problem because their name is not in the book so they send them to me and we figure it out."
Boston says she likes to work as an election judge because she feels like it's her civic duty, but also simply because it's fun.
Tuesday's crews made 15 stops inside the city of Cape Girardeau and 14 for the county to set up polling centers. Polls open at 6 a.m. will remain open until 7 p.m. Workers expect a big turnout and hope the day goes as smooth as possible.
