One dead in Texarkana shooting, suspect surrenders to police

The suspect in a deadly shooting early Sunday morning in Texarkana, Texas has turned himself in to police.

Officers were called just before 4 a.m. to the 3300 block of Nichols Drive for a report of a shooting.

When they arrived, the found 20-year-old Darius Carter of Texarkana, Teas suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Carter died as a result of his injuries.

After interviewing witnesses, investigators determined that Carter had been visiting a female at a local apartment complex. They say the suspect, who is the ex-boyfriend of the female, entered the apartment and confronted Carter. POlice say 19-year-old Quadreuy Flowers fired a single shot from a handgun and then fled the scene on foot.

Shortly after a warrant was issued for Flowers, he surrendered to investigators at the Bi-State Justice Center.

Flowers was booked into jail on charge of murder and is awaiting bond.
