Holiday season brings more criminals, more police vigilance

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport Police are adding officers to the streets to target criminals, specifically those who commit armed robberies.

As we move into the holiday season, we are reminded that, historically, Shreveport sees an increase in some crimes, including armed robberies.

The total number of robberies reported through the end of October is up slightly since last year at this time.

"Be aware of what's going on. Do not hesitate to call the police. If you see something going on inside your business, that's what we're here for," says SPD spokesman Cpl. Marcus Hines.

It's all a part of RID, Robbery Intervention Detail, which focuses on several different areas of robbery prevention and investigation.
