SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
Many from the Ark-La-Tex are worried about their loved ones along the East Coast with the arrival of Hurricane Sandy. Viewers posted their concerns to our KSLA Facebook page saying they were watching closely with their family in the path of the storm.
Andrew Scudder, a resident of Washington, D.C., told us via Skype that the District was seeing high winds and rain on Monday afternoon. Most of the business were shut down, including government agencies.
"Pretty much all the shops have been closed," said Scudder. "Metro is not running at all. The buses aren't running at all. Amtrak stopped running and there aren't that many people on the street compared to a normal day."
Hurricane Sandy has caused delays at airports across the country. Mark Crawford, Marketing and Public Relations Manager for the Shreveport Regional Airport, says so far there have been no delays with flights in Shreveport. However, passengers who are headed to areas on the East Coast that are flying out of Shreveport need to be on the look out for any cancellations from their airline.
"Any passengers that may be affected that are traveling to the affected areas, each airline will rebook them once they know when those flights are available so people aren't leaving Shreveport and getting stuck in Dallas, Houston, or Atlanta," said Crawford. "Their airline will rebook them so that they never leave Shreveport to get stranded somewhere."
