TEXARKANA, AR (KSLA) -
Four juveniles accused in connection with the October 6 shootout that injured a 14-year-old Texarkana girl have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
16-year-old Trevione Bell, 17-year-old Devonte Green, 17-year-old LaDerrick Johnson and 17-year-old Kaylan Stuart pled not guilty Tuesday in Miller County Court to charges of battery, aggravated assault and terroristic act.
Bond for the suspects is set at $200,000 each. In all, police say 11 arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and warrants have been issued for 9 others.
Police believe the shooting was the result of gang violence. They say Darmonica Bolden was inside a Chapel Ridge apartment when she was hit by a stray bullet from outside. She was hit in the chest. She has since been released from the hospital.
Police say the girl was not the apparent target.
The shooting, along with other recent incidents of gang violence in the area, has prompted the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department to create a Gang Unit.
