WINNSBORO, LA (KSLA) -

Authorities are expected to hold a news conference in Winnsboro updating the public with the latest in their investigation into the alleged attack in a local park that left a woman with burns over half of her body.

20-year-old Sharmeka Moffitt remains in critical condition at the Regional Burn Center at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, where she was scheduled to undergo surgery Tuesday.

Authorities say she called 911 Sunday night from Civitan Park in Winnsboro, where she told dispatchers she had been attacked and set on fire.

Authorities have confirmed that racial slurs were spray-painted on Moffitt's car, along with the letters "KKK." Authorities are looking into whether race was a factor in the attack.

The news conference is set to get under way at 4:30 p.m. at the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Department.
