SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

An inmate escaped from custody at LSU Health on Wednesday is back in police custody, after investigators tracked him down at southwest Shreveport apartment complex.

Police say Craedel Cook, 39, was taken into custody at the Aspen Apartments in the 9700 block of Baird Road around 7:15 a.m.

Police say tips led investigators to find Cook hiding in an apartment there.

Cook was in the custody of a guard from a private security company while receiving treatment at LSU health Wednesday when he reportedly managed to distract the guard and take off.

He was already facing charges for possession of a Schedule II narcotic, resisting an officer and obstruction of justice. Police say he'll face new charges in connection with the escape.

Police are still investigating how Cook escaped.
