Teen arrested after Kings Manor fire

Shreveport Fire Investigators have arrested a 14-year-old teenager in connection with Monday night's fire at the Kings Manor Apartments that destroyed four apartments.

The teenager was booked into the Caddo Parish Juvenile Detention Center. His identity is withheld because of his age.

The teen was charged with one count of aggravated arson.

The fire happened at the Kings Manor Apartments in the 7200 block of Bernstein Street just before 10:00 p.m.

Officials say that when they arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from three apartments. The fire eventually vented through the roof. A second alarm was dispatched just after 10 p.m., when the fire extended into the common attic space and began to involve a fourth apartment.

Fire officials say all occupants escaped unharmed, and the fire was brought under control by 10:31 p.m. Four of the apartments suffered heavy fire damage.

Investigators say the apartment where the fire started was unoccupied and had no utilities and appears to have been intentionally set.
