Alabama head football coach Nick Saban says the team's sluggish return to the field after a weather delay in Saturday's game against Missouri was his fault.
With around 8:40 minutes remaining in the second quarter, the delay was called after officials saw lightning. 38 minutes later, the football game resumed and Alabama, who had scored four touchdowns up to that point, immediately saw Missouri return a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The Tide did not even score again until the 4th quarter. Coach Saban says the team's lack of gumption was his responsibility.
"I didn't do a good job during the 30 minute break," said Saban in his post-game news conference. "That's something that I'll be responsible for."
Saban says the team had a great urgency and intensity until the delay, but the team came back a little flat.
