BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

The man who was arrested following the shooting death of Ieshia Winbush will be allowed to go free.

This is because, for unsaid reasons, the second-degree murder charge against Taurus T. Carter, 22, has been dropped. Carter can be released without bond at any time, says Lt. Bill Davis of the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office.

But first, Carter has to post bail for his remaining count of possession of marijuana. As of now, Carter remains at Bossier Max. His original bond, based upon the second-degree murder charge, had been set at $500,000.

Carter had been accused in the shooting death of his girlfriend, Ieshia Winbush, 21, of Bossier City. She was killed September 23 at Carter's home in the 600 block of Patton Street.

Detectives said earlier that they had considered Carter a suspect in the case since the start of their investigation. They said they worked in the week and a half leading up to his arrest gathering enough evidence to warrant the charge against him.
