Dirty Red River needs, and will receive cleanup

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

The banks of the Red River look more like a trash dump than a Sportsman's Paradise in some places. Garbage is floating in the river, lined up along the shore, and even gathered in large piles on the banks.

Cups, beer bottles, cigarettes, tires, food wrappers, just about anything that should end up in the garbage or a recycling bin can be found along the Red River.

On November 10th, people are gathering to put the garbage where it belongs. The 3rd Annual Red River Cleanup kicks off November 10th at 8am, and it aims to tidy up our river. The Bayou Chapter of the Ozark Society and the Arkansas Canoe Club are teaming up with volunteers to clean the Red River.

If you are interested in lending a helping hand, the cleanup begins at Stoner Boat Launch in Shreveport, November 10th at 8am.
