You could call it the missing link.

It's passenger rail service between Shreveport-Bossier City and Dallas-Forth Forth. Trains haven't carried passengers from the river city since the late 1960's. And in a time when airline fares are sky high and expensive gasoline, riding the rails is a great alternative.

Imagine the convenience of boarding a train downtown and being dropped off at DFW airport to catch a flight?

The proposed expansion of the Northeast Texas Rail Line would run 200 miles along the path of I-20. Uncle Sam is already providing the seed money - $250,000 to see if it can be done.

Amtrak and local politicians are lobbying to get the trains back on track going so far as traveling to Texas this week to make a formal pitch.

Bringing back passenger rail service to Shreveport-Bossier could have all sorts of economic benefits.

Shuttling tourists, conventioneers and business people back and forth. We like the idea.

Tell us what you think.

State Police Supt. Col. Mike Edmonson needs to address this inexcusable behavior directly and restore the public's confidence. He should be fully transparent in his investigation into the matter and should invite an outside entity to look into the matter.
