Second BAFB airman selected for presidential support team

BARKSDALE AFB, LA (KSLA) -

A second Barksdale airman has been selected for a special duty assignment as a flight attendant in support of the President of the United States.

Senior Airman Demarious Beard of the 2nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron will depart for training in preparation of his new assignment Oct. 19. He has been at Barksdale since December 2008.

According to 2nd Bomb Wing Public Affairs, Airman Beard enlisted in the Air Force in June 2008. He became an Airman leader while attending technical training school with the 364th Training Squadron, Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas., where he graduated as a yellow rope.

Upon arriving at Barksdale, Beard was assigned to the 2nd Maintenance Squadron, where he served as an active member of the Barksdale Honor Guard.  He was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal for rendering final honors during 60 military funerals, serving in 37 ceremonies and leading 693 training hours to other Airmen.

Beard will join Staff Sgt. Porsha Cook, who has also been selected for the special assignment.
