Many of you went to sleep Sunday night thinking about taking your kids to school Monday morning. While you were sleeping, KSLA News 12 checked up on high schools in Sabine Parish to make sure the food your children is served is safe to eat. Every single high school in Sabine Parish had at least one violation. Out of the 6 high schools, only one had a critical violation, but the rest were tagged with at least one non-critical violation.

Converse School had one non-critical violation: some equipment, that was not used to prepare food, was not in good condition. Ebarb School also grilled up a non-critical violation: the air intake vents caused contamination of food, food prep surfaces, equipment, or utensils. Pleasant Hill School served up one non – critical violation: the bathroom sink was not accessible. Many High School cooked up a non- critical violation: the walls/ceiling or the attached equipment was not in good repair.

Florien High School didn't make the grade either. Inspectors gave them 2 non-critical violations. The floor was not maintained or in good repair, and the walls/ ceiling or attached equipment was not in good repair. Inspectors turned up the heat on Zwolle High School. They had one critical violation and three non-critical violations. The critical violation was a temperature violation. Food stored for cold-holding and service was not held at the safe cold temperature of 41 degrees or below. This critical violation was corrected while the inspector was there. The three non- critical violations were: food was not served in a clean, covered container, the floor was not maintained or in good condition, and the walls/ceilings or attached equipment was not in good condition either.
