The snatch-and-grab career of two people well known to Shreveport Police ended Friday -- right in the parking lot of KSLA News 12.

Cameras were rolling about 6 p.m. when police pulled over a car that was loaded with merchandise. Off-duty officers doing security for Dillards say the car matched the description of a car that's been used before in thefts at area department stores.

Police say the driver of the car sped away when they tried to stop the car. They then stopped in front of KSLA's building.

"There's no telling how many tens and thousands of dollars worth of stuff she has stolen from all different types of stores in the town. And that's what she does. She parks outside until no one is looking. She grabs and runs right back into the vehicle. Sometimes she works with a second person, sometimes she works alone," says Deputy Marshall Joey Hester.

Arrested were Algretta Hewitt, 45, and Charles Layton, 53. Both are in jail tonight on charges of illegal possession of stolen merchandise.

Hewitt faces additional charges of aggravated flight of an officer and an outstanding drug warrant.
