Months after the A&E network cancelled Dog the Bounty Hunter, Hawaii's Duane "Dog" Chapman is slated to make a return to television.

Country Music Television (CMT) has ordered 10 one-hour episodes of a new series starring Dog the Bounty Hunter and his wife Beth Chapman.  The series, tentatively called DOG, is set to begin production early next year in time for a spring or summer premiere.

DOG showcases the next chapter in the lives of Dog the Bounty Hunter and his wife Beth as they concentrate more on the bail industry as a whole, helping other mom-and-pop bail bond agencies as they face extinction due to bad legislation, untrained or ineffective bounty hunters.

Producers describe the new show as an "action-packed, adrenaline-fueled adventure," and the duo will crisscross the U.S. training bounty hunters while looking for the most "cunning, notorious and dangerous fugitives."

"This series is a game changer for CMT," said Jayson Dinsmore, Executive VP for Development and Programming at CMT. "We were aggressive in our pursuit of a show featuring Dog and Beth, one of the most bankable teams in television history. We couldn't be happier to partner with Electus and Dog and Beth as they move forward on the next chapter."

"Dog and Beth are not only great television characters, they are the best bounty hunters in the world, and this show is a natural evolution of their life story," said Chris Grant, CEO of Electus. "Electus is thrilled to be partnering with them and with CMT to deliver the next stage of Dog and Beth's adventure.

DOG was created Duane and Beth Chapman through their production company, Entertainment By Bonnie and Clyde. The series is executive-produced by Electus (Ben Silverman, Chris Grant and Jimmy Fox) and CMT's Jayson Dinsmore.

Amy Weiss, of Brillstein Entertainment Partners—which represents Dog & Beth Chapman—engineered the production deal with Chris Grant of Electus.

A&E canceled Dog the Bounty Hunter in May after the conclusion of the show's eighth season.
