I20E in Webster Parish reopened after wreck involving semi

WEBSTER PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

I-20E at Exit 44 in Webster Parish has reopened after a tractor-trailer overturned Tuesday morning, blocking the roadway.

Louisiana State Police say the driver of an 18-wheeler loaded with International Paper products told them his load shifted as he was getting on I-20 eastbound from Dixie Inn/Cotton Valley just west of Minden and toppled over as he rounded the curve.

No one was injured, but the rollover blocked both eastbound lanes, and the loaded truck needed to be offloaded before it can be turned upright and towed.

The Webster Parish Sheriff's Office brought in several inmates from Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center to help offload the paper from the truck and on to pallets to be removed from the scene.

Traffic was rerouted via Goodwill Road through downtown Dixie Inn to Hwy 80, getting back on I-20 at Minden. At one point, traffic was reportedly backed up all the way to Haughton.

The road reopened between 1 and 2 p.m.

Louisiana State Police cited the driver for defective equipment for bald tires and careless operation.
