A Ruston man is behind bars, charged with attempted second degree murder after a stabbing early Friday morning that left a woman in serious condition.
Ruston police were called to a domestic disturbance on Miranda drive, where 911 callers reported that a man was stabbing a woman repeatedly in the parking lot outside an apartment there.
Callers identified the man as Jacques Patrick Williams and the woman as Angelia Woods. They told police that when Woods fled the apartment and tried to take refuge inside a vehicle that was parked outside, Williams broke out a window and began stabbing her as she sat in the vehicle.
According to Ruston PD, when officers arrived shortly after the calls, Woods had been transported to the Northern Louisiana Medical Center by private vehicle. Woods was treated for "multiple stab and slash" wounds, and had lost a large amount of blood. Woods was finally stabilized and rushed to emergency surgery. She was admitted in very serious condition.
Officers located Williams at Peachtree Apartments 1 shortly after their arrival on scene, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Williams was taken to the Ruston Police Department where he was questioned by investigators about the incident. After questioning Williams, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for attempted second degree murder and arrested Jacques Patrick Williams on that charge. He was transported to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center and booked.
