If you get a phone call telling you that you've won lots of money and are asked to send money to claim your prize, then don't buy it. Texarkana, Arkansas Police say it's a scam.
People in the Texarkana area have been getting such calls recently, and police there say they'd like to catch those behind it.
The scam involves a person claiming to be from the Publisher's Clearing House and telling Texarkana residents that they've won a substantial amount of money.
The person goes on to say that, in order to get the winnings, people would have to wire $1,000 or $2,000 from the local Wal-Mart to an unknown location.
Police say that, according to the Publishers Clearing House website, this is a scam. The website advises that the company does not call winner notifications by phone.
Police direct those who believe they've been targeted in the name of Publishers Clearing House to call the company at 1-800-392-4190.
