SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Two men playing with a firearm landed one of them in the hospital and the other behind bars Friday.

Shreveport Police arrested Jerry Jones, 18, of the 2700 block of Lindholm, and charged him with illegal use of a weapon in connection with the shooting.

It took a bit of detective work to find the shooter. That's because police say the unidentified victim told them at the scene that he and a friend were walking down the street when two unknown men attempted to rob them.

During the attack, the shooting victim and his friend claimed that one of the attackers fired his gun, injuring the victim. He was taken to LSU Health.

But detectives kept asking questions. Eventually they learned that the victim and the other man were at a home in the 2900 block of Fulton Street. Police say they men were playing with a gun when it fired, striking the victim.

Police say the shooting victim could face charges as their investigation continues.
