TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) - A Texarkana woman has filed a federal lawsuit over the death of her young daughter during a 2010 flood in a U.S. Forest Service campground in southwest Arkansas that killed 20 people.
Amanda Willis filed suit Thursday over the death of Kylee Sullivan, who had just finished first grade before the flood.
The Texarkana Gazette reports (http://is.gd/UrDdjM ) that Willis and Kylee were with friends and family at the Albert Pike campground when the Little Missouri River erupted in a violent flash flood. The rushing waters overturned RVs, pulled up tents and lifted paved portions of the campground. Seven of the dead were children.
Victims of the flood were from Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. Last week, a federal judge ruled that lawsuits over the flood should all be heard in Texarkana.
