SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
Willis Knighton is now offering choices for those looking for a flu vaccine. One option is an intradermal needle, which is 90% smaller than a classic hypodermic needle that is traditionally used. According to Dr. Stephen Smith with Willis Knighton, the benefit is less pain, "it doesn't hurt as much to get it, but it works just as well as the old vaccine."
Another option is a so called "super-vaccine" for elderly. The beefed up vaccine works just like a regular flu shot, but is more highly concentrated. The idea is that elderly people's immune systems don't function at quite as high of a level as younger people, so more vaccine is needed.
