SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A parking ticket is going up in price, and it's definitely going to put a dent in your wallet. It's going up more than 6 times what it used to be. It's a ticket for people parking in their front yards. Right now this citation costs about $15, but starting September 24th, this Monday, the first offense will be $100. It gets even more expensive from there. The second offense will be $300, and the third offense will be $525.

Property owners are responsible for what is on their property. It doesn't matter if it is someone else's car parked in your yard, you will get the citation. The city council has been voting on this for the past several months and now. Starting September 24th, Shreveport police will be giving out these pricier tickets. It's in another attempt to clean up area neighborhoods.
