After an impressive 19-for-24 performance against Rice with four touchdown passes and no interceptions, Louisiana Tech quarterback Colby Cameron has been named the Offensive Player of the Week by both the Western Athletic Conference and the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Cameron, a senior from Newbury Park, Calif. (Newbury Park HS), completed 19-of-24 passes for 276 yards and tied a career-high with four touchdown passes in the 56-37 win over Rice. He also had four carries for 15 yards. Cameron has guided the Bulldogs to 56 points in both games this season and is 10th in the nation in total offense with 314.5 yards per game.
The Bulldogs quarterback has guided Tech to back-to-back 50-plus point games, a first for a Tech team to achieve in the same season since 1910. After two games, Louisiana Tech's offense is nationally ranked in the top 20 in every category and leads the WAC overall.
Cameron and the Bulldogs will be tested this week as Louisiana Tech plays at Illinois Saturday evening on the Big Ten Network.
