Hazmat team called to train derailment in Claiborne Parish

CLAIBORNE PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

Louisiana State Police confirm as many as 5 train cars have derailed in Claiborne Parish.

Louisiana State Police Trooper Matt Harris says they have called for a hazmat response as a precaution, although there are no reported leaks and none are expected. Chlorine is confirmed as one of the chemicals on the train.

No deaths or injuries are reported as a result of this derailment. The train belongs to Louisiana & North West Railroad out of Homer, Louisiana.

A command post has been set up at Hwy 79 and Goodwin Lake Road, near Haynesville Jr. High School.
