BAFB statement on Clarence St. shooting

The following is a statement from the 2nd Bomb Wing regarding the Clarence Street shooting:

The Air Force takes all allegations of misconduct against its Airmen seriously.  We are cooperating fully with local law enforcement and continue to work with local authorities during the investigation, but since the matter is ongoing, we cannot comment further on the police investigation.

Barksdale released a second statement shortly after 5 p.m.:

The 2nd Bomb Wing Public Affairs office can confirm the two individuals involved in the early morning shooting on Clarence Street in Bossier City are Barksdale Airmen.

Staff Sgt. Judy Groomes is with the 2nd Logistics Squadron Inbound Receiving Section here and Staff Sgt. Christopher Groomes is assigned to the 548th Combat Training Squadron. Both Airmen have been at Barksdale for nearly four years. Sergeant Judy Groomes was scheduled to deploy to Southwest Asia in the coming months.

While Barksdale Air Force Base leadership is providing assistance as requested to local law enforcement investigators, we are not the primary agency and have no further information to share at this time.
