BLANCHARD, LA (KSLA) -
The Town of Blanchard started construction Wednesday on a new surface water treatment facility on Caddo Lake.
That will provide a high quality, reliable water supply for the community's 4,000 water customers.
The new treatment plant will have the water production capacity of 5 million gallons per day. It will replace an outdated, undersized treatment facility located on Hwy. 169.
"What we're doing is trying to provide water for all of us in this area. It's not just a Blanchard project, but it's a project for the whole north of Caddo Parish," says Blanchard Mayor Johnny Digilormo.
The development of the facility has been in the planning stages for nearly seven years. The ground breaking ceremony took place at the new site this morning.
