Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover's decision on a new dog park is tied up until he meets with the Red River Waterway Commission Wednesday morning.

KSLA News 12's Emily Black takes a closer look at why he's vowing to veto the vote on KSLA News 12 This Morning starting at 5:00 a.m. We'll also hear from those who say a dog park is something the city needs.

The vote to build a dog park on the Red River has been delayed before, and it was delayed Monday as well during a city council work session - so that other projects slated for the Red River can be reviewed by the Red River Waterway Commission.

Mayor Glover meets with the Red River Water Commission today at 10:00 a.m. in Natchitoches.  Council members agreed to postpone the vote for two weeks, until the commission will have had time to review the projects the city has planned for the Red River.

Earlier this week, Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator shared a piece of artwork with us that will be  featured at an upcoming dog park fundraiser.

In support of efforts to bring a dog park to Shreveport, Prator painted a picture of Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover being tied down by dogs. The artwork appears to be a take on the tale of Gulliver's Travels, with pups pulling on ropes over the likeness of an oversized Glover. The mayor has so far resisted funding the park over other initiatives he has said should take priority.

It was painted for the Shreveport Dog Park Alliance and presented to the group during the "Pup Rally" that was held in front of Government Plaza in July.

Now, 75 prints of the painting will be sold for a $30 each donation at an upcoming "Wine & Whine, a Dog Park Art Affair," another event in support of the push for a park catering to dogs and their owners at Hamel Memorial Park. Sheriff Prator has promised to personalize each purchased print at the event, set for September 22 at the Karpeles Museum, from 4 - 7 p.m.

To order a print, message the Shreveport Dog Park Alliance Facebook page, or contact the alliance online at www.shreveportdogpark.org.
