Several public and private organizations in the ArkLaTex are hosting speakers, having prayer services and holding other events in remembrance of the tragedy of September 11, 2001. Here are just a few.
Shreveport Fire Department to roll out vehicles
The Shreveport Fire Department has planned a special tribute to recognize its fellow first-responders in honor of the more than 2,800 innocent 9/11 victims, especially the 343 fallen New York City Fire Department firefighters and 23 New York City Police Department officers.
Fire Chief Craig Mulford has ordered each fire station to ‘roll' out all fire department apparatus and has required each firefighter to 'stand at attention' outside each station while observing a symbolic moment of silence starting at 8:59 a.m., which was the time the first tower collapsed. In addition to this show of solidarity, flags at all fire stations throughout the city will be flown at half-staff.
Bossier City hosting 9/11 remembrance ceremony
A memorial ceremony in remembrance of the victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks will be held at 10 a.m. at the Liberty Garden located at the Bossier City Municipal Complex. That's between the Bossier City Police and Fire Departments, 620 Benton Road. The public is invited to attend.
The event will feature remarks from Bossier City Mayor Lorenz Walker and Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington with the keynote address provided by State Representative Henry Burns. The Airline High School JROTC Color Guard will also take part.
Praise Temple of Bossier City plans special prayers service
Praise Temple of Bossier City will host a Special Prayer Service on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 6:00-7:00PM commemorating the lives lost during the 9/11 terrorists attacks on the United States. Please spread the word and come out and join us for 1 hour.
St. Joseph Catholic School to host NYC firefighter
Michael Torres, a retired New York City firefighter and 9/11 first responder will speak at 7:50 a.m. at the school at 1210 Anniston Ave.
Ceal's Cafe to buy breakfast for public servants
The Bossier restaurant will buy breakfast for all firemen, police and military personnel between 6 and 11 a.m. Identification is required. The cafe is located at 3810 East St.
Gov. Jindal orders flags at half-staff for anniversary
Today, Governor Bobby Jindal issued an Executive Order calling for the flags at all state buildings to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on September 11, 2012 in an expression of respect for Louisiana's fallen civilian and service members who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and the days since to defend the United States of America.
