Brawl in downtown Shreveport leaves man fighting for his life

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Two suspects were arrested following a brawl outside a Downtown Shreveport bar that sent a man to the hospital Sunday morning.

Shreveport police say around 2 a.m. three men were involved in a fight outside a bar in the 500 block of Commerce Street. Police say two men hit another until he fell to the ground. Witnesses say the two suspects continued to punch the man while he was on the ground until he was unconscious. The victim, later identified as 20-year-old Robert Farmer, was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The two suspects ran away from the scene, but were caught by police shortly after.

Police identified the suspects as 23-year-old Demerius Smith and Darrell Phillips, 27. Both were charged with second degree battery.
