BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

Bossier City Police have arrested a Shreveport man after he allegedly sent bomb threats by mail to the Bossier City Police Department.

Information released from the Bossier City Police Department:

Lee Arthur Howard, 51, was arrested Friday on a charge of communicating of false information of planned arson following a day long investigation. Howard is accused of sending a letter to the police department addressed to Chief Shane McWilliams stating that the police department would be bombed along with two unnamed schools in Bossier City and two unnamed schools in Shreveport.

The letter indicated to be from a woman with a local address. Detectives contacted the woman and developed Howard as a suspect in the case based on information they received over the course of their investigation.

Detectives then made contact with Howard Friday afternoon and arrested him upon interviewing him at police headquarters. Detectives say Howard placed the woman's name on the letter in an attempt to get her in trouble due to a long standing grudge he had with her. Detectives also determined the bomb threats were a hoax.

Howard was booked into the Bossier City Jail and subsequently transferred to the Bossier Parish Maximum Security Facility. His bond is set at $75,000.
