Family members say Noah Randle is a hero

Posted: Updated:

His family says he died fighting to protect his friends. While police search for the two men who shot and killed Noah Randle, family members say they find comfort in the memories they made while he was still alive.

According to police 22-year old Noah Randle was shot in the head and killed by two men trying rob a Summer Trace apartment on Sunday morning.

In Noah's obituary it explained how he walked into the apartment and saw two men holding his friends at gun point. Rather than running to get help Noah reportedly stayed and fought. Noah's mother tells KSLA News 12 that even in his teenage years Noah was a hero. Lynda Petree says when her son was only 17-years old he jumped into action, pulling a complete stranger out of a burning car.

"Noah has always been a hero. That's the type person he is. That's Noah's essence, was helping others," said Petree.

It was early Sunday morning when Noah's sister, Roxie Randle, got a chilling phone call from Noah's best friend. What was supposed to be a celebration for a friends birthday turned into an evening of tragedy.

"I knew right then. I said 'Is everything okay?' He said 'No, it's not. I don't know how to tell you this but your brother was at a party and he got shot in the head'," said Randle.

Noah was rushed to LSU Health where he died later that day.

"Once he was shot he never moved again. He didn't cry. He didn't move. He didn't ask for momma. As soon as it happened he was in a better place," said Petree.

Coming full circle, much like when Noah pulled that boy from a burning car, and just like when Noah fought to the end to protect his friends, even in death Noah's family says he is still helping others. On Monday the last of Noah's organs were donated; his heart and his lungs.

"They were able to use all of his organs. Noah will actually be alive here on earth, in other people, and he's still helping them. That's all he ever did was help others and love others," said Petree
