RUSTON, LA (KSLA/Louisiana Tech Sports Information) -

Louisiana Tech Athletics Director Bruce Van De Velde said Monday morning that the University is closely monitoring the situation with the impending landfall of Hurricane Isaac and hopes to make a definitive decision on its home game against Texas A&M by Tuesday afternoon.

Van De Velde said he has been in constant contact with the City of Shreveport, the National Weather Service, FEMA and other agencies that can provide intelligence that will aid in making a decision on the kickoff of the Bulldogs opener against Texas A&M scheduled for Thursday.

Van De Velde said that as of the moment, the game is still scheduled to be played on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Independence Stadium in Shreveport. However, he noted that the situation with Hurricane Isaac will be monitored over the course of the next 24 hours and a final decision would hopefully be made by Tuesday afternoon.

Shreveport officials confirmed Monday morning that according to FEMA officials, there are no plans at this time to use Independence Stadium or the State Fair grounds for evacuation operations.

Louisiana Tech activated an emergency response team website (ert.latech.edu) which will include all official information from the University regarding any operations, schedules or campus activities that could be impacted by the storm.
