SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport police are looking for the gunman in a shooting that left two women injured late Sunday night at an apartment complex in Queensborough.

It happened around 10 p.m. at the Lakeside Gardens Apartments near Mabel and Marion Streets.

Shreveport Police Sgt. Marcus Hines says it appears shots were fired from a nearby alleyway, striking two women who were sitting outside their apartment. One was hit in the leg, the other  was struck in the stomach. They were taken to LSU Health with non-life-threatening injuries.

"It's very fortunate that there were not more people injured tonight, a display of just sheer evil with the number of children out here and the amount of gunfire out here is just unbelievable," Hines says, estimating some 17 rounds were fired from what appears to be some type of assault rifle.

A third person was struck by fragments from a bullet that struck a nearby SUV. He was not seriously injured.
