SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
"That's down there in Keithville, we got a truck down there," said Bryan Glascock while looking at a map. He's in charge of the Caddo Mosquito Control, and lately he's had his hands full.
"We're getting a lot of calls right now so we're trying to spray as many areas as we can right now," said Glascock.
The threat of West Nile has resulted in a stepped up operation, this week alone 200 complaints have been logged. That kind of demand requires a lot of planning.
"We plan that daily so we come in, decide what area we're going to spray that night then the next day we spray that area depending on complaints and depending on what kind of mosquito counts we're looking at," said Glascock.
And if you're one of those who have made a complaint, be patient. Only eight of spray-trucks operate 7 days a week, and they cover the entire parish of Caddo.
"Trying to cover as much area as we can right now," said Glascock.
And with a few simple steps, you can cover your own area to prevent mosquitoes. Make sure you turn over the things in your yard that collect water. Keep your grass and hedges cut. You can buy your own spray at most hardware stores. And be sure wear repellant when your outside.
