NATCHITOCHES PARISH, LA (KSLA) -
An Alexandria man and a juvenile female have been arrested in connection with the beating and robbery of a 92-year-old Campti woman in her home.
According to Sheriff Victor Jones, the elderly woman was found was found by Sheriff's Patrol Deputies in her home Tuesday after she was able to place a call to 911.
Damarrius R. Manning, 20, of 3403 Nelson St, Alexandria along with a 16-year-old female juvenile from Campti both face 1 count each of Second Degree Robbery.
According to Chief of Investigations Greg Dunn, the suspects went to the home of Ms Beulah Jackson around 9 p.m. for the purpose of robbing her, and were let inside the residence after they asked the her for some ice cream.
Once inside, Manning allegedly struck Jackson in the face and head area with a vase, rendering her helpless, then the duo made off with approximately $40 in cash. Jackson was transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical center with facial lacerations and was later transferred to Shreveport with moderate to severe injuries.
Manning is currently being held on a $25,000 bond set by Judge Dee Hawthorne at the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center. The juvenile is currently being held at Ware Correctional with a hearing scheduled for Monday.
