MARSHALL, TX (KSLA) -

Hundreds packed Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Marshall on Tuesday evening for a prayer vigil in honor of the victims of a deadly rollover wreck in East Texas.

Five children are dead and five other people are injured, following Monday's fatal rollover crash near the I-20 exit ramp at FM 16. DPS officials say their GMC Envoy blew a tire and rolled-off the interstate, nearly to the frontage road, before coming to a rest upside-down.

Nine of the 12 people inside the vehicle were ejected in the crash. 13-year-old Rosbelia Jaimes, 7-year-old Omar Jaimes, 6-year-old Saideth Acuna, 3-year-old Yuliza Acuna, and 2-year-old Judith Jaimes were all killed in the accident.

"I feel bad. These were like my children. I was always with the children. I ask and I wish that you would please pray for the children and for my in laws that are in the hospital. I am asking for everyone that knows us to please support us and help us. Please pray for the angels who have left us," said the aunt of the victims.

According to DPS, the driver, Federico Esquivel Acuna, could potentially face five criminal charges. He and a 15-year-old in the SUV were the only ones wearing a seatbelt and neither were injured. Three other children and two adults were also in the SUV.

Members of the community streamed through St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marshall all day, lighting candles and saying prayers.

Father Denzil Vithanage says the family attended this church, and that he knew each of the children that died. He even baptized a few of them. He says the family came from Mexico to America in search of a better life.

Father Vithanage led a special Candlelight Mass of Angels on Tuesday night. That service started at 6:30. The public was invited. A special fund has been set up at St. Joseph to help with funeral and medical expenses. Donations can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Charities

An account has also been set up at Citizens National Bank in Marshall to help with funeral costs for the families of the victims.
