SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
With the assistance of a savvy cell phone user, police arrested two burglary suspects in central Shreveport on Monday.
Police say around 11:40 a.m. patrol officers were flagged down in the 900 block of Huntington Lane by a concerned citizen who reported a burglary. They learned the citizen had used his cell phone to record video of two men who appear to be making off with loot after allegedly breaking into a home just down the street.
"It clearly depicted the individuals making entry into the house and coming out of the house with the merchandise that belonged to the home owner," said Cpl. Marcus Hines with the Shreveport Police Department.
That neighbor declined to speak with KSLA News 12 or release the cell phone video of the break-in. But a neighbor next door to the targeted home claims he saw the whole thing. John Powell said he saw a car back into the driveway after everyone had left the home for the day.
"I didn't put two and two together at first, but I saw him carrying the TV. I nodded at the guy and he set the TV down and took off."
Based on that evidence, police say they identified the two burglary suspects as Shaun Moore, 19, and Curtis Gillyard, 20. Moore and Gillyard were arrested and charged with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling.
"We have two suspects in custody simply because he saw something that didn't look right and he chose to do something about it," said Hines with the Shreveport Police Department.
Investigators are still working to identify and catch a third suspect in this case. If you have any information on the whereabouts of that third suspect you can call crimestoppers at (318) 673-7373.
