SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday night is an estimated $320-million, which makes it the fourth highest in the games' history.
Clerks at the Exxon on Kings Highway in Shreveport said they had people coming in to buy Powerball tickets all morning.
"I had one customer come in who wanted $60 worth of lottery tickets," said clerk Debbie Alexander.
Alice shepherd was confident in her chances as she claimed she had the wining ticket. She says she's on a lucky streak because she won a raffle for an iPad last week and $500 at the casino Tuesday night. Plus, she claims she has a winning strategy.
"I'll go to different places and buy one, you know, to increase my chances that maybe that pace has the winning ticket," said Shepherd.
Others didn't share her confidence.
"Oh, I'm not going to win. I've got a better chance of being attacked by a polar bear," said D.J. Gardner when he bought his ticket.
Everyone we talked to knew what they would do with the money.
"I think I'd pay a lot in taxes and my children and grandchildren would all share in it," said Floyd Delcorral.
"I'd take care of my friends and family, and of course I'd give some to charity and then I would turn in my resignation at work," said Shepherd.
The Powerball website says your chances of winning the jackpot are about 1 in 175-million, if you round to the nearest million.
Anyone who wants a chance to win the $320-million jackpot has to buy a ticket by 9 p.m. Then the drawing will be at 10 p.m.
