Bossier carhop named a finalist in Sonic's skate-off

A Bossier City Sonic skating carhop has been named a finalist for a national competition.

Sonic Drive-In announced that James Pooser, aka "Skinny Jake," is one of seven finalists in this year's Sonic Skate-off.

It's a national competition that crowns the top sonic skating carhop in the country.

To enter, Pooser had to submit a video of his skating skills.

He was selected from more than 300 video entries submitted by carhops across the country. Among the criteria used by judges to determine the finalists were personality, carhopping and guest service skills and skating flare.

But Pooser says it's his creativity that will make him stand out.

"I don't consider myself and excellent skater, just more creative type person. And we were just sitting out there just spit-balling ideas, and so we thought what if we involved the coney. We kind of made it funny for the viewers. It just kind of went from there," he said.

Pooser will go to Oklahoma City this Friday to compete in the finals. But even if he doesn't win, we're told each finalist gets a new pair of skates.
