SPRINGHILL, LA (KSLA) -

The inmate who escaped from the Springhill jail in Webster Parish Sunday evening has been captured in Missouri.

Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd says Nathan Paul Hutchison was picked up in Bethany, Missouri, which is where he is from. Hutchison is believed to have hopped a bus in Hope, Arkansas, but not before a postal worker in Buckner, Arkansas spotted him and recognized him from seeing him on television.

Police went to the bus stop and found out where he bought the ticket to. He is now back in custody in Missouri.

Chief Lynd says Hutchison escaped sometime between 6 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday after he was let out of lock down to shower and exercise. But a trustee left a door open, and Hutchinson was able to escape.

Hutchison was on lock down because he had felony warrants. He is wanted out of Missouri for theft of livestock, forgery, and child support.  He also faces charges in Springhill of criminal damage to property and theft.

Lynd says disciplinary action against the trustee will be determined after an investigation has been completed.
